Nasrudin Steals the Happiness

Nasrudin saw a man sitting dispiritedly at the side of the road. And asked him what troubled him.

“There is nothing of interest in life, my brother,” said the man.

One response to “Nasrudin Steals the Happiness

  1. Nasrudin stories are always funny and insightful – and this story is indeed so, and very well-narrated. A delight to read.
Here’s a Nasrudin story I wrote in verse that I hope you and visitors will love:

    NASRUDIN, DONKEY, and WILD ANIMALS

    1
    Bang! Bang!
    Dong-gang! Dong-Dong,
    Ting-a-Dong!

    O, all day
    Nasrudin
    is making all this din
    in his home
beating drums and his pots and pans

    Hee-haw! Hee-haw!
    Hee-haw – haw! haw! haw!
    Hee-haw!

    And his Donkey too
    all day
    master and Donkey
    making all this noise

    2
    O Nasrudin, why
do you make this din and noise –
    you and your Donkey
    all day long?

    3
    O, says Nasrudin,
    Donkey and I are
    trying to frighten away
    all tigers and wild animals
to keep away from our town

    4
But Nasrudin – there isn’t a single tiger
    or a wild animal
    a thousand miles
    round our town!

    5
    See! says Nasrudin
    Our method works!

    Hee-haw! Hee-haw!
    Donkey agrees
